Bring It on Home to Me

I guess we can call this a love story—without a happy ending, but an optimistic vibe. It’s just an old bearded man singing his songs on the streets for spare change when he was discovered. Imagine hearing this man’s songs “live” every day. Here is one of them.

He sings about the girl he loved leaving him. He wants her to know that if she ever changes her mind, he will forgive her. He just wants her to come home. It sounds very gloomy right? The song has a peculiar upbeat atmosphere to it.

I see it as this old man without any money playing his heart out on the street. What does he have left to be upset about? When a grown man sings about his lost love in an optimistic tune, a lot can be learned from him.

We worry over so many small things that we block out our happiness. Ted Hawkins understood how to live. And if you are out there missing that one person that hurt you, or you hurt, just forget about everything that happened—it won’t matter in ten years. Bring it on home.
